Finally I'm back, well sort of!!!  I have been resting a strained Calf muscle.  It seems like I have been getting injured a lot more lately.  I'm really going to try and add in some cross training and maybe a little weight lifting and see if it helps.  Also I need to get outside more-- I think that stupid treadmill is the reason for my last injury.  I always get on there and have to push it.  That exactly what I did about three weeks ago.  Three straight days of long speed work is not good and eventually I felt the punishment!  You would think after all my years of running I would be smarter than that.  But, there's always a need for more speed!  

 

Anyway it felt good to run a little today.  I ran a slow pace not wanting to push it.  

5 miles 8:30-9:00 pace.

Turbo Kick!!!  Thursday is going to be my attempt to cross train.  There's a really great Turbo Kick class at the Y that I'm going to start taking every Thursday.   I need a little variation to my workout so mixing it up should help.  

 I couldn't resist and did 2 miles on the treadmill.

Today was a big bummer, it was a beautiful sunny day and I was looking forward to a run outside with Leslie and Lori (since my injury I haven't been able to run with them) and I couldn't go.  Beckham was running a high fever and I really couldn't justify taking him to the Y for his swim and Gym class-- so this means no outside running today.  Instead I ran 6 miserable miles on my treadmill.  It was awful!!!  I was so wanting to try 8 today with the girls.  I guess it will have to wait until next week.   

I officially start training for the Geist half next week.

After a weekend break I was ready to get back running.  I met Holy today at the Y and we ran 7.5 miles.  Avg. Pace 8:09, I think.  It was a great run and it felt good to get outside.

Today I ran 3 miles on the treadmill 7:47-8:00 pace and then did an athletic conditioning class at the Y.  OKay so this class was so hard and I was sweating a lot.  I guess the instructor is following a program called insanity.  I honestly thought I was going to die.  So looks like I will be attending this class weekly.

I ran outside today.  It was beautiful sunny day but, it was windy and a little cold.  I felt good and my calf muscle felt good.  I think I'm on the mend.  5 miles outside and 2.5 on the treadmill.

Jason and I were going to run outside this morning but, we woke up to snow.  I even had a babysitter coming and everything.  When I saw the snow I just knew it would be a waist and I didn't want my babysitter driving in the snow so I cancelled.  The day got way out of control with soccer, baseball practices, basketball tournament, and a Pacers game.  But, I did manage to fit in a lousy four miles on the treadmill.  Hopefully it stops snowing so I can get up early and get my run in before the chaos begins.
