Geist Half Marathon (13.1 Miles) 01:37:42, Place overall: 164, Place in age division: 5 | |
This past race was a struggle for me and a big wake up call-- that maybe I'm not training as efficiently I could be. So in attempt to get more serious with running and to be more accountable with my miles I am starting a running blog. This has worked for a few runners I know so, I will give it a try. Race Breakdown: Mile 1 7:01- not to bad considering I was having IPOD issues and trying to work through the crowd. My breathing was a little heavy even in the first mile. I was a little concerned with it but, kept pushing through. Mile 2 6:37 - great mile. I could see the lead female runners and got a little zealous. Mile 3 6:45- still hanging in there pretty tough. Still breathing heavy but, I feel okay. Mile 4 6:26- this must have been a little down hill. Because for not breathing well I am cruising. Mile 5 7:02 - slowing down. Buy now I am feeling the affects of not sticking to pace. I try to gag down a GU and I'm pretty nauseous. A little dry heaving going on. Mile 6 7:45- wow I am really slowing down. Jason has left me at this point and I'm really wishing this was a 10K. I think this was a steady uphill. Nothing to serious but, a small grade. Mile 7 7:01 - Catch back up with Jason on some rolling down hill. I'm definitely a down hill runner. I'm feeling okay and thinking maybe I can pull this out if I just stay mentally in it. Mile 8 8:05- this is the start of some mental breakdown and fatigue. This is also where we get some good up hill. I hate hills. The hills weren't long just short, steep intervals. I'm pretty sure I walked one of these hills. What was I thinking??? I could see Jason at the beginning of this hill after this mile I could no longer see him. Mile 9 7:31 - Making up a little time. I notice some women passing me that are looking pretty strong. I tried to stick with them for a little bit and they pushed me to try a little harder. Mile 10 7:22 - Making up some more time and feeling okay. Not great but, Okay!!! Mile11 8:03- More hills!!! I think by now mentally I knew I wasn't close to my goal time and I let it get to me. Mile 12 8:25- Shamefully I did a little more walking up some hills. Wow, where was my energy? Mile 13 7:22 - I ran into my training partner Leslie and she pushed me in. This was just what I needed to get me through this mile. Knowing she was right behind me gave me that extra push. .34 2:11- My Garmin, as well as Jason's, had the race about two tenths too long. I felt really good at the end and sprinted in. Moral of this race-- I need to do more races and more hill workouts!!! Also, I have got to learn to pace myself the whole race. I saw so many runners that looked so strong at the end. I have a strong tendency to let my competitive nature take over in the beginning of a race instead of sticking to my pace and then I have nothing to give in the end. Also my breathing issue-- I may be a little anemic. Jason said he could hear me breathing hard in the beginning and was a little worried for me. I have been really sluggish lately so I'm going to start taking my iron pills and see if that helps.

| | Nothing!! This week I'm taking a break from running. |
| | Today I met up with Leslie at the YMCA. I was hoping for a slow 3-4 miles but, got roped into doing 7 at an okay pace. Both Leslie and I felt good in the beginning but, by mile 6 we were wishing we hadn't been so ambitious. It was hot today and the sun was beating down on us those last miles. Running at 9:30 AM this summer is going to be brutal. Average Pace- 7:30-8:00 |
| | Today I took it easy and ran on the treadmill for four miles. I then rode the bike for 10 minutes at an 8 and 80-90 RPM. 4 miles- 31:05 |
| |
| | Today I went to the YMCA and ran with the group. We had quite a few runners there today. Everyone all kind of did their own thing. Leslie and I ran with Carrie for a few miles and then took off on our own. We ran around the park, down Sunblest and then through River Glen and back. It was muggy today and pretty hot. Leslie and I both struggled at the end. I hope I get used to the heat and humidity for some summer training. For a humid day we ended with 7.5 miles at about an 8 minute pace. I'm still just kind of taking it easy this week hoping that I can come back next week with a little more ambition to get back into training hard for Provo River. My right heel is giving me a little trouble. It doesn't hurt to run on it. Just throbs after and really hurts first thing in the morning. I'm not really quite sure what it is?? Doesn't seem to be Plantar Fasciitis because it's not debilitating and I can run on it. It feels more like a bruised heel. Is there such a thing?? Anyway if anyone has any ideas or any treatments for a bruised heel let me know. |

| | Today we took the kids out for a trail run. We have wanted to trail run down at Fort Harrison in Lawrence for some time and with no sporting events to get in the way we gave it a try. The trails are very different from Western Colorado but, beautiful in their own way. The trails are heavily wooded making the trail shady and scenic. I also like the fact that I don't have to worry about mountain lions, bears, etc. on the trail. Not much wildlife in Indianapolis. It was great to get back on the trails and change it up a bit. We ran roughly 3-4 miles. The kids did great. Mckay ran the whole way and was racing me on the hills. Mckinley she hung in there. Her short little legs got a little tired and she walked some. Beckham, he was done after a mile and rode on Jason's shoulders. He just wanted his milk and TV-- our little baby. It was a fun and relaxing run with the kids. Jason and I are definitely going to go back without the kids and do some hard core trail running. We miss the mountains. 3-4 miles at a very slow, easy pace. |
| |
| | Today Jason and I went to the gym and ran on the treadmill. I didn't want to run to hard because I'm going to attempt a tempo run tomorrow but, I did want to push it a little bit harder. I ran the first 6 miles in 43 minutes and then ran the last mile slower for a total of 7 miles in 51 minutes. I felt good today and this run felt comfortable. My heel was a little sore but, disappears after a mile. It is a little sore now and hurts to walk bare foot. I'm going to ice and stretch the calves tonight. 7 miles avg. pace 7:20-7:30 |
| |
| | My foot has really been hurting after yesterday's run. I stretched and iced yesterday but, this morning I have had a hard time putting any pressure on it. It was very painful this morning as I got out of bed, so I decided it wasn't in my best interest to do any running today. I was a little bummed because I was off to a great week and wanted to really start to push it this week. I guess it will have to wait until next week. I'm hoping to get a run in this week and maybe do a temp run we will see what tomorrow brings. I wanted to get a little something in so I went to the gym lifted some weights and rode the bike for 35 minutes (this is all I could handle, I hate the bike). I'm going to get some new running shoes and maybe some arch supports or a heel pad and see if any of it helps. I'm icing currently, taking Ibuprofen, and stretching the calves. Hopefully the pain will go away soon-- I'm not a happy person when I'm not able to run. |
| |
| | Today I went out for an easy run with Carrie. This is the first time that I had ran since last Monday because of my foot. My foot was really starting to feel better and yesterday I could actually walk normal so I thought I was miraculously healed. I stretched the calves pretty good before and wore the heel pad. When we first started I could feel the pain for the first mile which made me a little worried. After a light warm up mile the pain diminished. I could feel it but definitely doable. After I ran four with carrie I decided to put one more mile in on the treadmill, rode the bike, and then lifted some weights. The foot is really tender right now and is a little painful when I walk. I've iced and taken some ibuprofen. I'm going to try and push through it. I took a week off and didn't feel like it helped. We'll see what tomorrow brings?? 4 miles avg. pace 8 minutes 1 mile on treadmill 7:40 pace rode bike for 10 minutes and lifted some weights working my core, calves and hamstrings. |
| | So I'm officially frustrated with running and my foot. Yesterday, after running my foot was so painful I could hardly walk. I iced, stretched, took Ibuprofen, and massaged it all day hoping for a miracle. This morning, ignoring the fact that I could hardly walk I put my running clothes and shoes on and headed to the gym. I had planned to do some speed work today and the thought of missing another day of good running was plaguing my mind. The moment I got on the treadmill I could feel the pain. I thought maybe more stretching and start at a slower speed. The pain was still there and so unbearable. Not wanting to do any more damage I reluctantly turned my treadmill off and ended up riding the bike. I have been so down and I'm really getting discouraged. I called the Pediatrist and I have an appointment for Monday. Hopefully he can work a miracle and I wont have to take too much time off. Until then, there will be no running posts for me. I will not be running! Rode the bike 20 minutes (I really wasn't too into exercising at all today after I couldn't run.) Weights- Calves, hamstrings, quads, and core. |
| |
| | Today I met with the Pediatrist about my foot. After a few x-rays and an ultrasound I definitely have plantar fasciitis with a big tear in the fascia. That means absolutely no running until it's healed. He wanted to put me in this boot for a couple of weeks but, I just didn't see myself dragging that thing around. So, we will see if taking it easy will help. In two weeks I go back to see how it is healing and then I'll also get some orthotics. I think orthotics will be helpful because of my high arches and scoliosis ( which favors one side over the other). I'm surprised I've been running injury free for so long. Lesson learned- If something is nagging fix it and don't ignore it! I guess the stationary bike will be my exercise of choice for the next few weeks. Hopefully this wont put me to far out for Provo River. I would still like to get a good time. But, hopefully I will be able to put a good month in before. I did Turbo Kick at the YMCA yesterday and I can hardly move. I did low impact of course-- No jumping or moving the legs. My arms are feeling the burn today. I will give that a try again next week. Great class and great instructor. |
| |
| | Jason and I went to the gym today to ride the bike. Jason broke the rules and jumped on the treadmill. I tried the treadmill for about a quarter of a mile and then with a slight twinge in my foot I jumped off. I then did the stair climber for 10 minutes. Watching Jason run tempted me to get back on the treadmill. So I gave it one more try. I was being really cautious and was favoring the foot. It was a little uncomfortable but, never painful. I think I was really just over thinking everything, knowing that one over stride and I could tear the foot more. Over all I was glad to get in 2 miles in 18 minutes. It felt so good to run!!! I was glad that my wind was still there and that it felt effortless, probably because I'm running a 9 minute mile. I'm not going to overdue it, just a little more everyday and ease back into the speed. After running I rode 3 miles on the bike. It feels great to maybe be back running. |
| | Went to the gym this morning to give running another try. The foot was a little sore last night but, I iced and warmed it up pretty good this morning. I was able to get 3 miles in on the treadmill in about 25 minutes. I was able to up the speed a little today. The foot was okay. It's still a little tender but nothing pulling and really hurting. I rode the bike for three miles and also did the stepper for 10 minutes at a 6. Tomorrow I'm going to scale back and only run a mile and do a Turbo Kick class. I think if by next week I can get up to 4 miles or so I'll be fine to run Provo River. If the foot holds up I'll be able to run it. I might not get the time I'm looking for but, I can definitely finish it. |
| | Today I ran just a mile and half. I thought it would be best to take it easy. I then did Turbo Kick at the YMCA. This class is awesome. Not quite the aerobic workout as running but, I can hardly move the next day afterwards. I definitely use different muscles. |
| | Yeah, today I broke out and ran 5 miles on the treadmill. The foot felt really good so maybe it is getting better. The first half mile I ran really slow about a 10 minute pace just trying to warm the foot up but then I was able to stay around a 8 minute pace. Today was the first time that I got winded. I can really tell that I have taken 6 weeks off when I try to go under an 8 minute pace. I usually run most my workouts at a 7:45-7:30 pace or faster but, it was a little hard to stay there today. I did manage to get the last mile at around a 7:30 minute pace. I'm hoping gradually I will get back to where I was. 5 miles in 40:08 |
| | After a very lazy weekend, I needed to get my but in gear. Taking so much time off has gotten me in bad habits of sleeping in and being lazy about putting workouts in. So today in order to get back on track I ran 5 miles. I tried the orthotics for the first time. They seem to feel okay. The foot didn't hurt at all while running. It's a little sore when I walk bare foot. I'm really lacking in my breathing and getting up to speed. Hopefully I can push it a little more this week with some sprints and try to get my wind back up. 5 miles 41 minutes |

Ran on the treadmill today. Still need to get my breathing back. 5 miles in 41 minutes.

| | So today was my first day running outside since being back. It felt so good to run out in the fresh air. It was such a beautiful morning. I didn't want to wear my watch because I didn't want to have any pressure. I just wanted to run how I felt. I'm really not quite sure how fast I was running. Felt really good in the beginning but, I was definitely tired by the end. I tried to run some sprints the last mile, still trying to get me breathing back up. It's truly amazing how fast you can lose your oxygen capacity and how hard it is to get back into it. I'm just looking for a run to feel effortless. 4.5 miles not timed. |

| | I was a complete lazy but today!!! I was tired and so not wanting to run so I didn't! This is not a good attitude if I'm going to get back in shape!! |
| | Today Jason and I got up early to run before he went to school. It felt so nice to get out in the fresh, cool air and to also run with someone. We averaged 8 minute miles. I ran four with Jason and then ran two on my own. I was feeling a little better today maybe it helps to run with someone. 6 miles in 48:10 |

| |
Ran on the treadmill today. I felt so much better today. I'm almost up to speed. I started out faster today trying to push myself and it felt good. I still need to work hard to get all the way there but, today was encouraging. I was too busy this weekend to get a run in on Saturday. I had family in town and we had to many baseball games. I'm hoping this weekend to get in a longer run. 6 miles 45:45 .5 at an 8 minute pace

| | Another day on the treadmill. My calves were a little sore from yesterday but, overall I felt good today. I tried to push the speed a little faster. My orthotics are helping my feet feel better. Hopefully I can get outside tomorrow. 5 miles in 37:13 .5 at 9 minute pace |

| | Today was a struggle! I have been totally lazy today and forced myself to go to the YMCA to run on the treadmill. I did get a run in and it was better than yesterday. So I'm seeing little improvements. No running outside because of the heavy rain! Weather in the Midwest is so unquestionable??? 5 miles 36:46 last mile in 6:45 |

| | Today I ran on my treadmill at home because I needed to get a fast workout in because it's Mckinley's birthday. I hate my treadmill at home, it has no power. It is so old and feels like I'm running up hill. I wonder if I can count today as a hill workout??? Today was a struggle but, I managed to get an easy 5 miles in. It was so hot upstairs, I thought I was going to die. I definitely need to remember this day and just get my lazy but up earlier so I can run outside before Jason leaves for school. 5 miles 41:10 |

| | Today I wanted to get a longer run in. I wasn't feeling energetic at the first but, once I was a mile or so into the run everything felt better. I started slow than gradually increased the speed every two miles eventually getting some faster miles in. first two miles 8:30 Pace 2-4 miles 8:00 Pace 4-6 miles 7:45 pace mile 7 7:30 pace mile 8 7:10 pace .5 mile 8:30 pace total 8 miles 1:03:06 .5 cool down 4:14 |

Today Jason and I were able to get outside for a longer run. It was really chilly this morning so it was perfect to be out running. We are having some weird weather this summer. We started a little slow, the muscles were a little sore, but ended up most mile about an 8-8:30 pace. Jason's Garmin had us at 10 miles 1:23:52. We did stop a few times to get a drink and for a restroom break. Jason doesn't believe in turning off the watch at these times. So, the time is with some breaks. Splits-- mile 1 8:56, mile 2 8:06, mile 3 8:01, mile 4 8:03, mile 5 8:56 (break), mile 6 8:41, mile 7 8:08, mile 8:40, mile 9 8:22, mile 10 8:15 This was a better running week!!!

| | Today I had to coach at the YMCA so I met up with a few runners that I hadn't ran with before. It actually turned out to be a great run. I didn't wear my watch but, I felt like we were running a pretty good pace. I ran mostly with a guy named Dave who seemed to run pretty well. I was tired by the end of our 5.5 miles. I wanted to get 6 today so I jumped on the treadmill for one more mile. 6.5 miles |

| | Today I ran on the treadmill. I tried to put in a good workout so I can take it a bit easier tomorrow. I started at an 8 minute mile than increased the speed every mile. Here are the splits. Mile 1 8:00 pace Mile 2 7:40 pace Mile 3 7:30 pace Mile 4 7:15 pace Mile 5 6:58 pace total run time for 5 miles 37:30 Mile 6 6:30-6:40 pace total run time for 6 miles 44:03 .5 miles cool down at a 9:00 pace My foot was a little sore that last mile. I hope I didn't push too hard. Everything else felt pretty good. |

| | Today I ran on the treadmill at the YMCA. In an attempt to mix it up I ran four 800's 6:30-6:50 pace with one 400 at 6:30 pace. It was an okay run. I didn't feel way energetic but, I got the miles in. I felt my foot a little the last 800. Maybe I pushed it a little too hard. 6 miles in 45:08 .5 cool down at 9:00 pace |

Jason and I ran in the pouring rain this morning. It started out sprinkling and then stopped for a few miles than it down poured the last four miles. The Midwest is known for crazy rainstorms and Jason and I experienced running in firsthand this morning. Our time was pretty slow and my foot was kind of hurting the last five or six miles. mile 1 8:51, mile 2 8:16, mile 3 8:04, mile 4 7:57, mile 5 9:19 ( water stop), mile 6 8:46, mile 7 11:50 (potty break at golf course), mile 8 9:32 ( stretching the foot), mile 9 9:10, mile 10 8:21, mile 11 8:43, mile 12 8:16, mile 13 8:04, mile 14 8:28. Total run time 2:03 This was painful looking back on the splits. I think we did a lot of stopping in the middle stretching the calves, getting drinks, and whatever. My foot was a little uncomfortable so I just didn't want to push it. |

| | I took today off. The run on Saturday left me a little nervous. I went to the doctor today for a checkup. He thought that the tear had healed so that is a good sign. I still have plantar fasciitis pretty bad and that could be what I was feeling on Saturday. But, hopefully the orthotic will help. He did say because of the plantar fasciitis I am really susceptible in getting another tear so I need to be careful. I'm going to try and run tomorrow. The foot feels fine today so we will see what tomorrow brings. I just need to stay together. I really am looking forward to running in UTah. |
| | So I finally got my shoes dried from Saturdays run. I went to the YMCA and ran on the treadmill. I wasn't really too excited about running today. It seems like when you take a day off laziness sets in. Once I got into the run I felt great. It must be the Cheesecake Factory cheesecake I had for breakfast-- giving me lots of energy. I wish I would've pushed it in the beginning, I could've had a great run time today. I ran 6 miles in 44:08, not too bad considering the first two miles were between a 7:45-8:00 min/mile. 7th mile cool down 8:30 pace. No running tomorrow, I will be headed to Utah! |

Easy Run today with my sister Michelle. I was actually glad I was running a bit slower today to get used to the elevation change. I definitely felt a difference but, not too bad. Got a few hills in. I'm not used to running too many hills because I do most workouts on the treadmill. I do speed work but, no hills. I honestly feel that hill work is crucial and I need to do it more. It felt good to be running in Utah. The scenery is amazing-- there's nothing like the Utah mountains and the cool mountain air in the mornings.
6 miles don't know the official time. Ran the last mile in 7:47. Overall al slow easy run.

Ran 7 miles today. I started a little too fast and paid for it in the end. I was really sucking wind today. Either it is the elevation or just pure exhaustion. I have been going 100 miles an hour since I have been in town. I'm not complaining but, I'm feeling a little tired.
7 miles-- No time, I didn't wear a Garmin. It's probably a good thing, those last miles were a struggle. I'm sure it would've only discouraged me more than I already am with this getting back into great running shape. I can't remember it being this hard after I've had babies but, maybe my expectations are too high in a short period of time. As I was running today I wondered why I feel I have to run so fast??? Why can't I just run and enjoy it? In the back of my head I am always feeling I need to push it harder, get faster, run longer, etc.... It's craziness. But, I don't see an end in sight!!! |

Ran 15 miles with Michelle. It was a pretty slow run avg pace 9 min/mile. Either it was the pace or the fact that I haven't ran some distance for some time but, the run seemed to last forever. Oh well, it's over.

Ran with Kellie this morning. We ran 6.5 miles at 7:55 Avg. Pace. It was a great morning to run. The weather and company were perfect. On my way home from Kellie's I ran into my Dad and Michelle at Osborne's. They were headed down past the dairy so I decided to run slow with them for two miles, rounding out the day with 8.5 miles.

Today I ran hill repeats with Michelle and Trina. We ran from my mom's to heartbreak hill about a mile and 1/2 pretty slow. When we got to the hill I just kind of did my own thing trying to push a little harder. We did 8 hill repeats up/down heartbreak hill. I didn't wear my watch so it was hard to gage how fast I was actually running them. By the sixth or seventh I was definitely a lot slower and my legs were a little shakey-- A sign that I need more hill work. Then we ran slow home.

Another Muggy run this morning! My legs were a little tired and took me a mile or so to feel like running today. By mile 9-10 I was done. I don't think I could've pushed through another mile today. Either it's the heat, humidity, or just plain tired but, I am having a hard time getting back into running here in Indiana. Today we stopped for a drink at the grocery store and I was dripping with sweat. I definitely need to take in the fluids today. 10 miles, average pace 8:24, 1:24:00

| | Thursday night I felt a cold coming on. The chest is a little tight and just a little achey. I debated back and forth wether to run and talked myself into a light four mile jog with the intent of no running on Saturday. When I got to the Y Leslie of course talked me into 5. Then when I got out there running and I ended up getting 6.7 miles with Leslie. That Leslie she got me into running more than I had hoped for. But, that .3 was bugging me so I ended up getting on the treadmill for more. Once on the treadmill I talked myself into one more mile and then for sure I could take Saturday off. Totaling 8 miles. Yesterday after I ran I was feeling a little better but, still not 100 %. Loving the fact that tomorrow I don't have to get up too early to run but, somewhat early for a day of soccer, baseball and a football game. Wow that is a marathon in and of itself. 7 miles 55 minutes |

| | Okay so I'm feeling pretty lazy today!!! This morning I was loving the fact that I wasn't out running bright and early but, later today I'm feeling like major slacker. But, hey I have nothing to train for and I'm entitled to a lazy Saturday. Just would've been nice to top off a high milage week. Oh well!!! Next week, I will be out. Jason is training for a trail marathon and I have told him I will help him train. If not, he might not get any miles in-- he struggles in getting up by himself. |
| |
| | Treadmill workout! I pretty much just maintained and even pace. To help with the boredom and get me through that last two miles I did an 800 and a 400 speed interval. 7 miles 52 minutes .5 mile cool down 8:00-8:30 minute pace. |

| | IKEA trip to Cincinnati, not time for running today!!! |
| | Mckay got sick last night and ruined my morning running plans. I was going to coach at the Y today and because I missed yesterday was hoping for 7 or 8. Instead I got 5 miserable miles on my treadmill at home. Maybe tomorrow I will get a good run in!!! |

It worked and it ended up being a good run. first two miles warm up 7:45 pace, next three miles in 20:45-- 5 miles in total time 36:15, miles 6 at a 6:30-- 6 miles in 42:45, the last mile I ran slow for a 400 then sprinted for a 400-- rounding out the total run time 51 minutes. |

| | Ran with Leslie this morning. My legs have been a little sore and I was a little tired but, about a mile into the run I started to get into a groove. Runs with Leslie always end up being longer than I expect but, a lot of fun. 8 miles avg. pace 8:00 |
Brooks Defyance Miles: 8.00 |
| | Ran with Jason this morning. His legs were a little sore because he went on a long run at about 9 Pm last night. So our run this morning was a little slow but, we got it in. I felt great today (probably because we were running slower) and the weather was perfect, 10 miles avg. pace 8:27 |
Brooks Defyance Miles: 10.00 |
| | Easy run today! 5 miles in 37 minutes and then a slower 6th mile to cool down. 6 miles 45:20 |

| | I can't remember a time for this run! That's what I get for waiting so long to post. |
Brooks Defyance Miles: 6.50 |

| | Ran with Holley and Carrie from the Y. It was a nice casual run. I have been battling a cold this week and my chest is so tight. It has been nice to run a little slower. I didn't get an official time from Holley. |
Brooks Defyance Miles: 5.10 |
| | Chest is still really tight. I wasn't going to run today but, had to go to the YMCA to pick up some papers and decided while I'm there I might as well run. I wanted to take it easy today but, of course when I get on the treadmill and I have other runners near me my competitiveness kicks in. I still ran relaxed but, pushed it a little more than I should have. 5 miles 38:45 last .5 cool down. |
Brooks Defyance Miles: 5.50 |
| | Today was a great day for running the company and weather were perfect. I ran with the girls from the YMCA. We had a new runner today named Sarah. I ran with her for about 2.5 miles then she turned back. It was fun getting to know her and with a little time she is going to be a great runner. Than Leslie and I finished our 8 miles route. 8.1 miles in 63 minutes. I than ran a 8:30 cool down mile on the treadmill. |
Brooks Defyance Miles: 9.10 |
| | Ran with Jason this morning. I like the fact that I never signed up for a marathon because I wanted to have free Saturday mornings with no long runs but, I've been running all Jason's long runs to help him. He owes me big time. Anyways, 16 miles 8:00-8:30 pace. Jason has really been struggling on these long runs to push the pace because he isn't getting the miles in during the week with school. Hopefully we can push it one of these Saturday's and get back to a faster pace for long runs. |
Brooks Defyance Miles: 16.00 |

| | Wow I just realized that I'm racking up the miles on my new shoes. It's almost time for new ones. Anyway ran at the Y on the treadmill today. I ran a pretty easy pace for four miles then pushed it up a bit ran around 1 7:30 pace for the last three. 7 miles 54 minutes |
Brooks Defyance Miles: 7.00 |
| | I had a lot to do today so I settled for a miserable run on the treadmill at home. I think I'm lucky I got four miles. |
Brooks Defyance Miles: 4.00 |
| | Met up with Marissa at the Y to run outside. She only wanted to run 4 so I ran with her than jumped on the treadmill for a fast 3 miles. I don't know the time for the 4 but, ran the 3 in 20:45. Not too bad I need to push it a little harder the first mile. I could only muster a 7:30-7:45 mile and then my competitiveness kicks in for the last two. I just have to force myself to push it that first mile. I then ran a slow .5 to cool down. |
Brooks Defyance Miles: 7.50 |

| | Slow start this morning! It's amazing what traveling does to a person. I was hoping for more miles today but, I got off to a slow start and had to hurry to get Beckham to swim lessons. I'm still not feeling too great-- a little achey and just tired. 5 miles 37 minutes |

| | I'm really not quite sure what the total distance or time was today, because I wasn't wearing a watch. I ran with Lori in a rainy, windy, and cold mess this morning. Jason was suppose to run 20 miles today but, I couldn't get a babysitter so we had to run at different times. I got the early shift with Lori and I will say I was pretty relieved I was only going a short distance. However, we will have to make up for this next week!!! Based upon past runs 55 minutes usually is 7 miles, so I'm purely guessing and I kind of like not knowing. |
